ABOUT
Passionate About Helping Others
Whether you or someone you love struggles with substance use, treatment can be life changing. And lifesaving. Substance use is a difficult and dangerous illness that affects millions in the United States – not only people who are addicted but also their family and friends. Every story of substance use is different; therefore, everyone’s addiction treatment should be different.
At Akron Recovery Center, you’ll be treated as a person, not an addict. We offer inpatient therapy to help you get and stay sober. Our facility provides a safe and welcoming environment where you can focus on recovery. If you choose treatment with us, you’ll work with a team of
physicians, therapists, clinicians, and other specialists who will create a treatment plan specific to your needs and goals.
Many times, life seems to be moving along nicely day to day and then suddenly it isn’t. Developing new tools and coping skills for different situations, changes or growth in life is what Akron Recovery Center specializes in. You replace your old ineffective coping skills with new
healthy ones so that your future can look different than your past.
We offer a safe place to help support each individual during this time of transition or heightened management of their substance abuse issue with the goal of obtaining and maintaining long term recovery. Perhaps a weekly therapy appointment or outside meetings doesn't feel like enough to grow or support the changes in symptoms or situation the individual is facing; Akron Recovery Center offers substance abuse treatment that teaches the tools needed to develop under the guidance of our licensed professionals. Individual plans can be tailored to specific needs by a clinician and therapist that truly knows every person because they see them several times a week. We would love to speak more in depth with you, please reach out and let us help you grow.
When you finish your program at Akron Recovery Center you have the option to continue with Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) and Sober Living. We are associated with IOP clinics and sober living homes throughout the country. This will be addressed in your discharge plan. Ongoing care is highly recommended and beneficial on your road to recovery.
Benefits of continued care
Recommended treatment is a 28 day residential program at Akron and then Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP). It is not mandatory that you continue to IOP, but is highly recommended to continue learning coping skills and behaviors that support recovery. Continued treatment through IOP can be done at various treatment centers throughout the state. Some advantages of continuing with an IOP and/or sober living home are noted below
-
Sober Living – knowledge of sober living homes throughout the country for those struggling with addiction and have a desire to change. We can help you find one.
-
Counseling – If you go to IOP, you will have the option of meeting 1 to 4 hours a month for one-on-one counseling services.
-
Job Search* – Some outpatient facilities and sober living homes offer job club services to clients so they can obtain a job.
-
Social Services* – Many providers work with several social service agencies to get necessities required until they can afford this on their own, which can take a few weeks. This is another question you will want to ask the intake coordinator of the program you choose.
-
Social Events* – Some sober living homes offer weekly social events for their residents to participate in.
-
Medical Care - Many clients who come for IOP services need basic medical care. Many facilities work with local physician offices to refer clients for treatment.
-
Spiritual Events* – Some homes connect with local churches and synagogues for spiritual fulfillment.
-
Clothes Closet* – Many facilities have donations which help their clients get necessary clothes for events and work.
-
Apprenticeship Program* – Some programs offer their clients a training program. They are offered the opportunity to work in an apprenticeship role in their facility so that they can learn valuable skills required to work in the substance abuse field.
-
Weekly Staffing – Clinic staff usually come together weekly to address the needs of clients and discuss status.
-
Duluth/Anger Management* – Some programs offer a 26 week “Intimate Partner Abuse” to their clients and the community at large.
-
Outside Meetings - Within two weeks of starting IOP most clients are required to find a sponsor and attend a specific number of meetings a week. *Not all facilities offer these services. It is important to ask the intake coordinator of the program you choose what they offer.
